Dwelling

There are women I could love
Here, now and tomorrow.
But I am not practiced at keeping my mind away from you

Before the distance is filled with
Time, space, and thoughts of you with him
I’ll keep this hunger close

To taste the sunrays you felt
The kisses I began
And the open words we spoke

I’ll try to swallow these moments,
Keep them for the nights my senses
Call on memories for reflection

Though promises are often precarious
There’s a possibility in your gaze
I have trouble forgetting.

I know I could return to this choice
For days, weeks, months
Do I let this go or fight for more
